Suellen Inwood, M.Ed.

Mrs. Inwood earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders/Learning Disabilities at Northwestern University and her Master’s in Special Education for Pre-K–12 at Southern Connecticut State University. She presently is a Director at Easton Country Day School as well as a founding parent. Easton Country Day serves a diverse population of students with 30 percent of the population being highly gifted (often twice exceptional), 40 percent “typical” learners and 30 percent of the students with learning differences such as dyslexia, slow processing, social skill deficits, executive function deficits, autism etc.

Her 40 years of teaching experience includes teaching at Benhaven Cooperative Educational Services and Fairfield Public Schools. She has apprenticed and worked with Dr. Donaldson in Original Play for over 25 years as well as with Lynn Meltzer in Executive Function, and specializes in Individualization of programming for students and families. Suellen has spoken at Learning Differences conferences at Harvard University. 

Suellen is responsible for the development and oversight of individualized programming. She specializes in Sensory Integration, Executive Function, understanding individual Learning Styles as well as meeting unique educational needs (highly gifted and children in need of remedial programming). Suellen believes that coordination of regular, student/ teacher/family meetings ensures programming remains current and on target. An Executive Function specialist and Integrated Listening System trained educator, one of Suellen’s specializations is the optimization of learning through strengthening and integrating sensory systems.

Suellen studied Original Play under O. Fred Donaldson for 30 years. She runs individual and small group Original Play sessions, workshops, seminars and other educational sessions on Original Play, as well as gives lectures and supervises internships in Original Play. Suellen has organized and supervised Original Play experiences with children, adults and animals around the world.

Suellen serves as Board Chair for ASSET, which provides programming to reduce anxiety for students within school environments, and also serves on the Researchild board which focuses on providing professional development and student programming for learning differences and executive function as well as development of Executive Function curriculum (SMARTS). 

Suellen co-authored Prader-Willi Syndrome Parent GuideBook for parents outlining the development of children with Prader-Willi syndrome.
