Invisible: How Late Diagnosis Leads to Challenges and How Social Acceptance Can Change That

In this interview, autism advocate Daren Kraft shares his all-too-common story of how late diagnosis left him unprepared for success in his adult life. Like many autistic individuals with high intelligence, Daren was able to get through high school, transition to a university, and with several false starts, even get a college degree. But despite his education, aspects of his autism left him lacking in both the needed stamina and the life skills that are necessary to live independently while simultaneously pursuing the career he had hoped for. In a poignant and deeply self-aware discussion about some real-life challenges, this session gives viewers insight into how autism affects even those who are diagnosed later in life. With a call for increased social acceptance, Daren also gives hope to individuals who are struggling, with a call for increased social acceptance.
