In 1991, after earning her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education, Carol began her long association with Language and Cognitive Development Center, as a classroom teacher of young children with autism. The children were ages 4 to 7 years old; most had no spoken language and had severely limited means of communicating. Carol employed the Miller Method in all aspects of the classroom curriculum and programming, and the children learned to use signs and pictures to communicate, and some began to use spoken language. In addition to the classroom teaching, Carol was invited by Dr. and Mrs. Miller to lead peer-supervision sessions with other teachers.

Carol presented at a number of conferences organized by Dr. and Mrs. Miller, in which she discussed the application of Miller Method theory to daily classroom use. She also conducted Cognitive Developmental therapy for individual clients on the Autism Spectrum. Carol coached teachers in Miller Method classrooms in schools in New York and New Jersey.

Under the leadership of Ethan Miller and together with Dr. Stephen Shore, Carol has presented at workshops via video conferencing, in Vietnam, the Philippines and other locations, and presented a series of workshops for a course provided to a school in Russia.

In addition to the work with Language and Cognitive Development Center, Carol coached and consulted with teachers in Head Start programs throughout the city of Boston, for over 15 years, and, for 23 years, taught courses in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education at Urban College in Boston.

Carol lives in Maynard, Massachusetts and enjoys hiking in the woods in her area as well as having long conversations with friends.
